Authorities in Atlanta are searching for a suspect believed to have stolen unreleased music and confidential tour material belonging to Beyoncé, just days before the global superstar took to the stage in the city as part of her Cowboy Carter tour.
The incident occurred on July 8, according to police, when thieves broke into a rental vehicle used by two members of Beyoncé’s creative team—choreographer Christopher Grant and an accompanying dancer. The car had been left briefly unattended, and upon their return, the rear window was found shattered and their belongings missing.
Among the stolen items were multiple USB drives containing sensitive files, including unreleased music, watermarked tracks, behind-the-scenes show plans, and both past and upcoming setlists. A police incident report described the material as vital to the tour’s production.
Also taken in the theft were a MacBook laptop, studio headphones, and a number of luxury fashion pieces. Grant, 37, immediately reported the break-in to authorities, prompting a digital trace of the missing laptop and headphones. While police tracked potential signals from the devices, the report did not confirm any successful recovery.
The theft took place just two days before Beyoncé began her much-anticipated performances in Atlanta, part of the final leg of her country-inspired Cowboy Carter tour. The concert series, which began in April, followed the release of her groundbreaking 2024 album that redefined her musical direction by embracing country themes and spotlighting underrepresented Black voices within the genre.
Local law enforcement confirmed in a public statement that an arrest warrant has been issued, although the suspect remains on the run. Authorities have not released the identity of the individual in question.
Despite the incident, Beyoncé completed a four-night run in Atlanta, drawing tens of thousands of fans. The tour is expected to wrap up later this month with two final performances in Las Vegas.
Cowboy Carter, which earned Beyoncé her first Album of the Year Grammy, marks a significant artistic pivot for the singer. Critics have praised the record for its depth, historical grounding, and commitment to reshaping narratives around country music’s roots.
